Glutino pretzels, a healthy choice for snacks

Eating healthy is important to me, so I try to I offer my family snacks and treats that are not only good tasting like pretzels, but also better for them than other snacks like chips.

Glutino pretzels

The pretzels have been a favourite snack around here for years; we always stock up on the big bags when we shop at Costco. They really don’t last very long around here, they are seriously addictive!

Pretzels

Recently, we received a package of the newer flavours and styles of pretzels from Glutino. There was a honey mustard flavour, a buffalo style and a pretzel chip.  Of course, as always they were ripped into by my daughter right away… pretzels are her favourite snack! She did manage to leave me a few pretzel chips… my daughter loved these! They can definitely be  a great substitute for regular chips. They are crisp and crunchy and have same great buttery flavour of the Glutino pretzels we love.  These are perfect on their own, served with cheese or smothered with almond or peanut butter or hummus on the side to dip into.

My daughter tends to be very picky about her food… doesn’t always like to try new things.  She actually said that she has become addicted to the honey mustard flavour as well…which is kind of funny as she has never been a big mustard fan…but these are so good and also very addicting – you cannot eat just one…

Normally, we tend not to buy things that are too spicy around here, my husband cannot eat them and my daughter as I mentioned, isn’t always a fan of trying new things. If you love spicy, the buffalo style are very good with just the right amount of tangy kick to them.

Looking for some great gluten free snacks that everyone will love, and want to  make a hit this  game day weekend?  You can’t go wrong with any of the Glutino style and flavours.  Offer some Buffalo style pretzels with some gluten free blue cheese dip  [ a great combination] or serve some of the honey mustard pretzels along side your favourite sandwich.  They will be sure to be a hit!  * Please make sure that the blue cheese is gluten free: http://www.glutenfreediet.ca/img/bluecheese.pdf

Here is a favourite healthy, and quick hummus recipe to enjoy along with the pretzel chips.

This is optional – 2 tbsp tahini [it is a sesame paste]
1 tsp ground cumin
salt to taste
1/4 tsp paprika
Water

Directions
  1. Drain chickpeas and rinse well, place in food processor
  2. Puree the chickpeas and garlic along with the olive oil, lemon juice, tahini cumin, and salt in food processor until smooth and creamy, can add 1 to 2 tablespoons water as necessary to achieve consistency you like.
